It’s true–good things take time. Any creative understands the value of precision, of taking a long look at a project to yield the best results. Most of our services here in the Studio are longer in nature, but we couldn’t help but wonder, what if this process could be sped up? What if we could get your copy needs done and dusted in under a week’s time? This is what inspired our A Day in the Studio Service.
Crafted with those more timely projects in mind, you’ll work closely with us and get our full writing expertise for one whole day, with the final deliverable sent to you by the end of the week. To showcase just how fun and collaborative this service can be, we thought we’d give you a behind-the-scenes look at A Day in the Studio we had with Nikki, founder of Made By NF, a boutique creative studio based in Phoenix, Arizona.
Let’s break down our day with her.
The incredibly talented graphic designer Nikki had a rebrand right around the corner for her creative studio and was looking for copy to meet her launch day deadline. After an initial Discovery Call, it was decided this service would be the best course of action, allowing her to meet her soon-to-be deadline with style and ease.
For this specific project, we agreed to write five pages of website copy for this next evolution of her new brand.
First things first, we sent Nikki a questionnaire outlining all the important details needed to dive into the project. We wanted to know her brand story, aligned brands, target audience, copy goals and much, much more. While Nikki filled this out, our team conducted research, compiled questions, and began writing our initial concept ideas.
The long-awaited day has finally arrived. To start things off, we met with Nikki on a Zoom call at 9 AM PST. Here, we addressed any questions that arose after reading her onboarding questionnaire and shared our vision for the day ahead. This meeting is journalistic in nature, as we interview our clients and get to the core of what makes them, them.
For this project specifically, we walked through our vision for Nikki’s five pages of website copy–her Home, About, Services, Portfolio, and Contact pages. After this hour-long kick-off call, we felt more than ready to dive right in and get writing.
After a few hours of writing (and multiple cups of coffee consumed), we couldn’t wait to meet up with Nikki once again to give her a glimpse at our progress. These Zoom check-in calls are designed to give us a temperature check on our headway, ensuring we’re on the same page with our clients and obtaining initial feedback. We walked her through the pages we wrote thus far–keep in mind, they were by no means completed, but the initial framework was there for her to review.
Nikki was so excited about our progress, and so were we. With just a few minor tweaks to our web copy, we thanked Nikki and carried on with our writing journey. The remainder of the afternoon was spent addressing those minor revisions and finishing up most of the copy to ensure it was in tip-top shape.
After a full night’s rest, our team can give the project a final read-through with clear eyes. Once everything looked perfect, we recorded a Loom video to walk Nikki through each page and sent off the first full draft of copy.
Keep in mind, we like to allow our clients to provide one full round of feedback on all of the copy via Google Comments. This gives them the opportunity to sit with this new copy before they share their thoughts. Once we receive this, we conduct a final round of revisions that will be sent to them at the end of the week.
Nikki suggested a couple of minor edits on some pages–her About page, in particular, as she provided some fun facts to complement her bio. After we received Nikki’s revision notes, we implemented these changes.
Finally, once both parties were pleased with the end result, we sent over a final Loom video to walk the client through all of the changes we made and our reasonings for specific word choices. Although this project’s first draft is written in one day, you still have our support for the following week.
Lastly, we offer three full days of email support to address any final questions you may have regarding your new deliverable. We are here for you. In this instance, Nikki didn’t have any further questions, so she was good to go.
Voila! The copywriting project Nikki needed was completed and ready to accompany her rebranded website in just one week. We love seeing how these projects can take shape so quickly. Anything is possible with collaboration at the forefront.
We’d love for you to take a look at our project, too. You can view our case study on Nikki’s website project here to see our creative process in more detail. But don’t take our word for it.
We love to hear it.
