Hello again, friend.
It feels like it’s been a whirlwind here at the studio these past few months–juggling exciting client projects, diving into our newest studio offering The Studio Hour, and, well, navigating the delightful chaos that comes with running this busy story house. Amidst the busyness, our beloved Above The Fold blog may have felt a bit neglected lately. Yet, amidst this bustling energy, I’ve realized something crucial–when life gets demanding, it’s precisely the moment to intentionally slow down, take a breath, and reflect. So, guess what? I’m hitting pause on the frenzy to show some love to our blog, and what better way than delving into one of my all-time favorite topics–writing. But not just any type of writing; this is the kind that invites self-reflection and turns chaos into clarity.
Journaling has been my guiding light through many significant crossroads, like the monumental decision to leave Nike and embark on the journey that led me to Lāer Studio. It’s been a constant companion throughout the evolution of my life—from envisioning a colossal copywriting agency to realizing the bigger impact I could have by creating a boutique copywriting studio for heart-driven brands.
Fun Fact: Did you know the idea for Lāer Studio came to life during time spent daydreaming on my daily 2-hour commute to Nike and, of course, heaps of journaling and self-reflection in between? From battling comparison to shedding external expectations, journaling has been a steadfast ally in my quest for confidence and alignment both in my personal life and in building my business. Throughout all of the ever-changing seasons of our lives, especially when external pressures can be overwhelming, remember—it’s okay to stop, feel, reflect, and even savor those moments of contentment in the now.
Before we jump into the self-reflection journal prompts that have shaped my journey, let’s pause and acknowledge the profound impact of journaling on our well-being. Backed by the wisdom of many scientific studies and the experience of my own personal practice, it’s clear that journaling is more than just a habit—it’s a moment to ourselves amidst hectic lives, a pause to listen to our inner voices, and a tool to navigate allll the complexities that this wild and wonderful world can bring us.
As seasons change, the pressure to outperform in the new year can add an extra layer of stress to our already busy lives. Balancing the demands of clients, loved ones, and those ever-growing to-do lists can feel monumental.
