I’m going to tell you a story about the evolution of our studio.
I’m writing this as I make my way to Florence, Italy. I’m at the very start of my three-week trip with my husband where I’ve tasked myself with the goal to work remotely whilst site seeing, wine sipping and celebrating a family member’s nuptials under the Tuscan sun (sorry, I had to).
It seems fitting to take some time to reflect on how far we’ve come and where we’re headed in this unique setting just as we approach our long-awaited rebrand. This high-speed train feels very much like the start of our studio’s journey.
I’m the conductor, directing this train to go as fast as it can without having a set destination, and…with plenty of stops along the way, of course. Two years later of this go, go, go mentality with a whole lot of amazing client experiences, team growth, and my own personal challenges of navigating entrepreneurship, I now find myself with a much clearer destination in mind.
One with purpose.
One that is a wholeeee lot bigger than just me and my one-woman train.
My passion for storytelling has grown stronger after working with individuals and businesses worldwide who truly care about the impact their work has on this planet and seeing the power and support we can provide them in sharing that impact.
You see, the last two years have shown me that this business is not about me. In fact, it never was. It’s about the work we do, the people we get to collaborate with, and the stories we tell—all to create a positive ripple effect of change.
I began to feel as if something was missing. For this whole time, our studio name had mine at the helm, and I continued to feel this sense of spaciousness and disconnect from the brand we were building.
This was no longer about me. This was about our passionate, impact-driven clients making real change.
Inspired by my journalistic roots and obsession over storytelling, the vision for the rebrand began to take shape. One that infused editorial elements and elevated imagery while still creating a sense of welcoming and warmth that our clients, team and community know us for.
The identity for the brand was easy to come up with as these were all elements we had in our former studio however it was time they were given more notice. When it came to the imagery, we knew we wanted it to reflect a more communal and elevated essence with a nod to our journalistic roots. We partnered with Hannah Batkoski from Duende Design Co who artfully guided us through this brand exploration bringing our vision to life.
So I took myself through our very own naming service that we offer to our clients, and I embarked on a journey of my own. I soon found myself in a world of naming possibilities. I’d be out for drinks with friends and get enthralled entirely in the cheeky drink names on the menu, the street signs I’d walk by, or the titles of books and go down a rabbit hole of name options. Needless to say, naming your business is no easy feat!
My biggest takeaway when embarking on a new name for your business?
Bring in outside support and be intentional with who those individuals are. With the help and guidance from Hannah, mentors, and close family and friends, I was able to gain neutral and different perspectives on names I had come up with as well as welcome entirely new ideas.
Our train finally had a more clear destination.
With our new name and brand elements in place, it was time to ensure the rest of our story house reflected the next chapter in this book.
In-house copywriting offerings for the brand in pursuit of real impact.
After two years of working with clients on their brand messaging, website copy, and ongoing copywriting retainers, it was time for our services to get a little refresh, too. Don’t worry, you’re favorites are still around with a few more additions.
Where one of ours becomes one of your own.
For the business owner who’s ready to bring a Lāer writer onto their team, our monthly retainers are artfully structured to support our clients with their ongoing copy needs such as social media captions, newsletters, blog posts, and more. You know, all the good stuff to help you continue sharing your story with the greatest possible impact.
Our signature offering.
With our brand messaging and website copy packages being some of our most services, we came to realize that one cannot live without the other, and that it was time to combine the two. This package encompasses our heart-led storytelling process, beginning with uncovering your brand’s true north: your brand story. From there, we’ll develop a comprehensive brand messaging guide and website copy that speaks to your brand’s depth and withstands the test of time.
Our day-rate service is here to stay for those who need their copy done and dusted in one whole day.
A little bit of this, a little bit of that.
You’ll still have the opportunity to add on to the above packages with our a la carte offerings ranging from email sequences to brand naming, sales pages and more.
I believe anyone can be a storyteller. I also believe in continuous learning.
With the studio growing and expanding, it was time for us to bring something to the writer or brand ready to hold the pen.
I’m excited to introduce our latest copywriting and storytelling resources in the Lāer Library.
Your one-stop-shop for all of our studio resources, including must-reads from our blog, Above The Fold, preferred tech tools and more opportunities to learn from yours truly.
We also have one very special addition to the library including our *first-ever* digital product, our Tailored Testimonial Bundle. Complete with email templates and copywriting tips, this guide bridges the art and science of asking just the right questions to get the testimonials you need to build on your credibility and to craft even stronger messaging.
I have so much in the works that I can’t wait share with you. Before I do, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hannah, who artfully guided me along this journey to uncover not just our newfound name, but artistic expression that completely and utterly embodies this studio better than I ever could have imagined it to be. And our photographer, Leilani Banayat who effortlessly captured my vision through her lens.
As you can see, this is no longer a one-woman train without a defined destination. We know what we want to do and where we want to go with some very exciting stops ahead of us that I can’t wait to share with you.
Now as my real train to Florence comes to its final destination, I’ll leave you with this:
Your story matters.
The world is waiting.
Now let’s get writing, shall we?
Your founder and editor-in-chief,
Rachel Leslie
